Entryway: A Blog Series #4

Have you read the previous posts in my 'entryway' series? What started this series was an article I had read about "captivating entryways". It had me intrigued. I thought to myself, "Self, I wonder if Trees n Trends could help captivate MY guests when they entered MY house?" So I took it upon myself to go to the store and replicate the photos I had seen. I have to admit, I was impressed. I found nearly everything listed in that article at our store.

There was a photo of a GRAND entrance with, what looked like, a round dining room table sitting in the middle of it. In the center of it, positioned ever so perfectly, was a beautiful floral arrangement. Personally, I don't know anyone that has an entrance this grand (read: huge), so I scaled what I found down a bit.

For those that are able to go a little larger, I found these pieces:

If you are lucky enough to have a grand entrance and are able, by all means, GO BIG! I'm sure we will have what you're looking for.

Entryways: A Blog Series #3

I hope you've been following along. If you haven't, you should know that after reading an article by Sherry Nothingam, I had found nearly everything that she had mentioned about entryways, in our store. We might not have YOUR family photos but we do have the frames for them. Wonder if I can keep batting a thousand?

The next foyer I came across had a small chest of drawers with a gold lamp sitting atop it with a tufted bench off to the right. On the focal wall was a starburst mirror and wide array of framed artwork. (Like I said before, we have a ton in our store and I couldn't possibly post them all.You should go to the store and take a gander for yourself!) Let's see what I could find in the store:

I found it all!

Next, please.

Entryways: A Blog Series #2

If you remember, I had just finished reading an article about entryways and how they set the tone for the rest of your house. After walking through our store, I had found nearly everything from that article--minus your family photos!

In the article, I found a funky little foyer. It had a "sunny" mirror hanging among various artwork on the wall. (Keep in mind that we have a vast selection of artwork in the store.) Against the wall, they had a "glamorous" console table, with spritely little chairs on either side. Wonder if I can find this spread at our store?

Yup.
Uh-huh.
Sure thing.

Next, please.

Entryways: A Blog Series #1

After reading the article by Sherry Nothingam, 25 Captivating Entryways that Embrace the Beauty of the Gallery Wall, I came to the conclusion that, minus having photos of YOUR family, we have everything you need to "captivate" your guests once they walk into your home. Regardless of the size of this area, you need to play it up! Use furniture pieces, lamps and, of course, your very own photos.

I found one foyer in the article that had a small bench with a basket underneath and standing up next to that was a tree. This was all underneath a massive framed collection on the wall. I wonder if we have all of that?

Check.
Check.
And check.

Next, please.

(You should check out the article mentioned earlier and see if you can figure out which photo I tried to recreate. Let me know if you figure it out!)

Pantone Colors for Fall 2016

Like I mentioned on Facebook last week, Pantone has released its colors for Fall 2016. I went through the store today and found items for each color listed. Which color do you see using in your home this year? What color will you stay far, far away from? Personally, I think everyone needs a little "Lush Meadow" in each room (i.e, fresh flowers or plants). Tell me what you think...

Tea Leaf Trend

Amazon.com - Preserved Boxwood Wreath Set - Square 3pc (6", 8", 10") - Artificial Topiaries:

I have a confession to make. I am sort of infatuated with tea leaf wreaths. (Try to say that three times, fast!) Lucky for me, they're all the rage right now.  The reason for my infatuation is because they are so versatile. You can use them inside or out. They can be elegant or quirky. You can decorate them or you can leave them as is. The choice is yours.

I thought I'd pull together a few pics to show what you can do with this staple.

1. We'll start off basic.

2. Next, we'll turn it on it's side and add a few flowers.

3. This shows how you can add a chalkboard. Write your initial or leave a message for the UPS guy.

4. Here are three of them displayed together, horizontally. Very simple. Very elegant.

5. Again, here are three of them displayed together, but this time vertically.

The possibilities are endless on these wreaths. Keep in mind, the photos I posted are for any day. Don't get me started on the holiday ones! I'll post those on another date. Stay tuned!

Dorm Room Do's

They grow up so fast.

It seems like only yesterday that I was in my pj's, sitting on the school bus, right next to my daughter, as she was making her way to her first day of kindergarten. (Long story short: she was NOT going to get on that bus without her mommy. Thankfully, we lived right next to the school and the bus driver was a personal friend. After having had a wonderful first day, I never had to board the big yellow limousine again.)

Today, as we're making preparations for her first day of college, I came across a handy checklist with things every college student will need as they transition into a dorm life. (So many things I had never even thought about before. A sewing kit? That's brilliant! Now SHE can sew that button on her shirt.) With this list, I feel much better about her embarking on this new stage in her life.

Now that we have the necessities covered, it's time for the fun part...decorating her new pad! I went to the Trees n Trends store and went wild. I'll show you a few of the things they had and my reasons for getting them.

  1. Memo BoardShe can stick reminders on here so she won't forget anything (i.e., appointments, upcoming tests, to call mom).
  2. Faith-Family-FriendsEven when she's busy with college life, I want her to see this and remember what is truly important.
  3. Baskets
    One word. Organization.
  4. Clock
She'll never be late for class.
  5. Quilt SetDarling bedding that will make her WANT to make up her bed every morning (even if I'm not there to remind her.)
  6. LampThis is for when she needs to turn the light on but doesn't want to wake her roommate.
  7. PillowsSomething soft for her sweet head to lay on.
  8. Wall DecorShe needs to dress up those plain white walls.
  9. Tray - See #3
  10. Waste Basket
While she's at school, maybe she'll learn that trash goes in here and not on the floor.
  11. Trunk
This is where she can store items that remind her of home.
  12. Cross
When she is freaking out over exams, work and boyfriends, I want her see this and remember His promise that He will never give her more than she can handle.
