Celebrate the first day of Autumn with Trees n Trends

Happy first day of Autumn! We agree with so many of you that fall is one of our favorite times of year, which is why we couldn't wait for Kevin to introduce the 2014 theme "Autumn Splendor." This beautiful decor theme relies heavily on harvest imagery and symbols of gratitude.  Check out this video...

Kevin starts out by showcasing a beautiful autumn centerpiece featuring glass domes and our LED Starlight Wire String Lights. (We told you these were a must have!) The domes are accented with evergreen garland and latex branches, as well as fruits and textured orbs. In addition, Kevin added a touch of whimsy with fall decor signs as chair decorations.

We know many of you love to decorate a fall holiday tree and Kevin created a wonderful inspiration. The Thanksgiving Tree is festooned with burlap, ribbon, and a grapevine wreath deconstructed to add texture.

Our 2014 Autumn Splendor theme is finished with fall decor wall accents and tall seasonal arrangements. As always, all the featured items and products can be found at your local Trees n Trends location.

Two Products You Have To Know About For Halloween!

Great holiday decorating is always a mix of everyday items we've re-purposed especially for the occasion and special holiday decor that we use only once a year. Today we thought we would share two of our favorite items for Halloween - one that can re-purposed all year long and one that is just for Halloween.

First up, no Halloween is complete without a Halloween tree. Kevin outdid himself with this year's Halloween tree and Sarah absolutely loved one essential element - the lights! Kevin layered Spooky Teeny Bulbs with Candy Corn Spike Lights for a wonderful whimsical effect.

Next, Halloween decor is fun, but layering in everyday items is also important. This year one everyday item that Kevin is using throughout the holiday season is a glass dome with our LED Starlight Wire String Lights. Whether you are showcasing a fun little pumpkin, a Santa, or a collection you keep out all year long, a glass dome makes every object seem special

A Harry Potter Inspired Mantle

Trees n Trends is not only a great source for Halloween decor but our designers are an amazing resource for customized holiday decorations. Sarah and her family are huge fans of the Harry Potter series. When she mentioned that her family was taking a trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter over fall break AND dressing up as Harry Potter characters for Halloween, Kevin suggested crafting a custom Harry Potter inspired mantle to help them celebrate their favorite series.

First, Kevin and Sarah took a trip through the aisles of Trees n Trends to select Harry Potter inspired decor from all over the store. From owls to toads, they knew the ever-present magical creatures would be a central theme of the decor. Looking beyond the Halloween aisle, Sarah and Kevin selected an owl portrait from wall art and a toad from the patio section.

Of course, no Harry Potter mantle would be complete without a sorting hat and other special Halloween decor. So, after a trip down the holiday aisle, Kevin and Sarah were ready to head to her house!

Once at her home, Sarah had some of the decor she already owned ready for Kevin. A Trees n Trends designer is a great resource precisely because they are experts at mixing old and new or everyday and holiday! Kevin had a metal wall art piece ready to replicate the floating candles of Hogwarts main hall. He then added garland crafted from branches, fall leaves, and fantasy flowers from that Botany Class Harry is always missing!

Layering magical trunks, toads, owls, and a Sorting Hat with the books themselves, Kevin left small, visual clues and signs for any fan to enjoy. Sarah already had a Nimbus 2000 ordered for Halloween, so that was the perfect finishing touch along with metal tea light hangers.

Sarah was absolutely thrilled with the results! Any Harry Potter fan would love this Halloween decor. However, whether you are a Harry Potter fan or not, the mantle is still SO elegant and beautiful that anybody would enjoy the magical effect.

Of course, the adults are important but we can't help but think the reaction of Sarah's 5-year-old son says it all!

5 Ways to Transition your Patio from Summer to Fall

Labor Day marks the end of summer and the first day of fall is only a few short weeks away. However, Mother Nature clearly has several more weeks of warm weather in store for us so there's no need to abandon our outdoor living spaces.

Instead, there are easy ways to transition your patio from summer to fall and keep enjoying the outdoors!
  1. Swap out your brighter colored cushions for deeper jewel tones, like these from Montifleuri|Monserrat.
  2. Cozy up by a fire pit.
  3. Summer is almost over, but don't let those garden urns sit empty. Fill them with brightly colored fall mums.
  4. Lighting is essential any time of the year. Try our Treasure Garden Starlight Patio Umbrellas to extend those outside hours as the sun sets earlier and earlier.
  5. When in doubt, add pumpkins! We love the look of filling garden lanterns with mini pumpkins and gourds!
Remember to save on all these ideas with Labor Day Sale at Trees n Trends!
