Having a Ball With Boxwoods!

BALL. ORB. SPHERE. GLOBE.

Call it what you will but this is the "little black dress" of home decor. It's a staple that can be used in a number of different ways.

"What ways are you talking about?" Let me show you.

Setting one in an outdoor container on either side of your front door makes a bold statement.

Fill a birdcage with orbs to "fill the void" of where a feathered friends usually reside.

Capture one inside a cloche, with or without a base.

Make your own topiary with three orbs of varying sizes. To learn how, go here: http://blog.consumercrafts.com/decor-home/boxwood-diy-topiary/

Group a variety of orbs together for a centerpiece.

Set orbs atop candleholders, which would look splendid sitting atop a mantle.

I'm aware that these are succulents but you could always do this with the orbs.

I say "boxwoods" but these globes are also made to look like grass, eucalyptus, pine, asparagus, tea leaves, thyme, moss and even flowers such as lavendar.

Let your imagination run wild...let me know how you would incoporate them into your decor.

DIY Planter

Sure, I could go to the store and have someone in the floral department make me an arrangement. But where's the satisfaction in that? Sometimes I just want to do things for myself.

So that's what I did.

I went to the store and found a metal urn.

As I was walking down one of the aisles, I spotted a wire hanging basket. I thought to myself, "I might be able to incorporate this in my design somehow."

I removed the coconut liner and took off the "hanging" part of the basket. (It's very easy to remove since it's just clipped on.)

I took the wire basket, flipped it, and sat it on the top of the urn. I thought to myself, "I like the way it's going but it's missing something."

That's when I went to the warehouse and showed the girls in the design center what I was doing. I told them I thought I needed some ivy so they handed me about six bunches of English ivy.

After I attached the ivy with floral wire, I took a step back. "It's still missing something. Maybe I should fill the bottom with Spanish moss." After doing that, I showed it to some of the girls in the office. My pal Sandra offered her two cents. She said, "What about adding lights?"

BRILLIANT.

The lights were the pièce de ré·sis·tance. That's exactly what it was missing.

I think this would look stunning sitting out on a covered porch or lighting up a dark corner of a room. Where could you see using it?

Boxwood Bunny

Five (EASY) steps to the cutest front porch in the neighborhood.
STEP 1- Take one container or urn...

STEP 2- Set a orb on top of it. I used a boxwood, but we have orbs made to look like thyme, grass, moss, or sedum.
(FYI...our orbs are always 40% off!) It might be a good idea to use two-sided tape to secure it.

STEP 3- Set smaller orb on top. To attach it to the larger one, I used a floral stem to go through both. (Let me know if you can come up with a better idea. I was stumped.)

STEP 4- Add ears. (This time of year, bunny ears are everywhere.)

STEP 5- Add a bow, and you're finished!

This took me less than five minutes. Now I can't wait for everyBUNNY to see it!
HAPPY EASTER
